Support the Cranleigh Games

posted 30 Apr 2012, 16:37 by Cranleigh Runners

The Rotary Club of Cranleigh are heading up the team that are organising events over the weekend of July 14 and 15th in various venues around the village.  To celebrate and support the ‘other’ games in our country later in the month as well as getting our community involved to see what pastimes, hobbies and clubs are available in the village.  Games and competitions will range from chess and scrabble to BMX and skateboarding, table tennis, Tae Chi, arm chair curling and talent competitions.  There will be something for everyone from 5-95.

Our steering group organising these events come from all businesses and organisations in the village.  We have representatives from Glebelands School, U3A, The Arts Centre, The Co-operative, The Lions, The Rotary Club, Cranleigh Village Sports and Social Club, the Leisure centre, Cranleigh School, Rowleys, HSBC, The Chamber of Commerce, The Sayers Croft Trust and Cranleigh Golf and Country Club plus Cranleigh Sunflowers and Ben Fullick from Matt Fiddes Martial Arts School.  I’m sure I will have missed someone important so hopefully they will either forgive me or tell me off and then I can put this entry right!  All of them are working hard to make thess events the success we want them to be so that all of you out there get to enjoy two days of excellent fun!

The Arts Centre have donated their facilities for free for the two Saturdays of the Talent Competition, the Leisure Centre is open for all for free both 14 and 15 July and they also are our wet weather contingency plan!

The Parish Council is allowing us to use the Village Hall and there will be things going on in the Band Room, Guide Hall and Scout Hut as well.

If you cannot attend or just feel like contributing to the progress of this event please feel free to donate! We would really appreciate your support!
